Spend money on experts only when needed
Hire carefully and conservatively
Have high ethical standards
Spend time making your business good rather than making your business just look good - in other words - don't hire people because they look good on paper or get a location to impress VC's - smart VCs would rather see a company make money
Know your industry and your competition and big picture trends
